Our Vision & Values

Growing Stronger Together

At Drake’s Church of England Primary schools we believe in supporting all members of our community to enable and inspire them to grow as confident, independent learners, fully equipped and ready for life’s challenges. This is based on the parable of the Mustard seed (Matthew 13:31–32) we believe that given guidance and support even the smallest can flourish and achieve.

PARABLE OF THE MUSTARD SEED

“The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches” (Matthew 13:31–32).

Our school Values are

Hope, Compassion, Thankfulness, Respect, Trust and Courage.

MAT Vision - SMALL SCHOOLS, BIG OPPORTUNITIES TOGETHER

The Church Schools within the Link Academy Trust aim to provide an education with four key elements which are at the heart of all that we are, enriched by our Christian traditions; Wisdom, Hope, Community and Dignity.

Our learners will be given opportunities to become independent, collaborative, creative learners who have the confidence to seek wisdom and nurture a love of learning.

Our small schools provide big opportunities to broaden learners’ horizons and prepare them for the fullness of life, through hope, aspiration and our core Christian values.

We focus on relationships and learning to live well in a wider community that can flourish together.

Central to children’s learning is respecting the worth, dignity and preciousness of each person in a safe and inclusive environment within the sight and love of God.

PUPIL ETHOS GROUP

The Pupil Ethos group are the Advocates of Change at Drake's C of E Primary School. They are a group of children from across the age range that lead on activities and events that can bring about change locally, nationally and internationally.

At some point in life we will all face challenges and need support to help us overcome these barriers. We teach our children that is important to help others regardless of where they come from or what their challenges are. We teach this in many ways; through our work on values, by links to the Bible, other faiths and world views as well as learning about other courageous advocates. We want our children to have confidence to discuss and debate big ideas, to challenge injustice and engage in activities that can bring about change on some level.

"Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy."

                                                                                        (Proverbs 31: 8-9)

The children of Drake's School have been bringing about change through raising money to link every toilet in school with a tap or toilet in another country through the charity - toilettwinning.org

The Pupil Ethos Group raised money for SightSavers by going on a sponsored walk along the River Otter. Following a visit to the RNLI Lifeboat Station in Exmouth they decided to raise money to support the amazing work of the Lifeboat.

Their latest project has been to bring about change in our locality.  A litter pick in the village alongside Budleigh Lions Club helped clean up our local area followed by the local beach. This inspired the children to write to the local council about keeping our beaches clean.

They also lead Collective Worship using the Oscar Out Of The Box resources.
COLLECTIVE WORSHIP

Collective Worship is an integral part of our school day which allows us to explore the questions of life. It allows children and adults to respond to national events, foster respect and deepen spiritual awareness, planting seeds of growth enabling children and adults to flourish.

The Pupil Ethos Group deliver Collective Worship along with the Open the Book team and the local vicar. We visit the local church at special times of the Christian calendar inviting parents to join our worship.
