PE and Sport Premium

Please read the information below which gives details of our PE and Sport Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding.
What is the Sports Premium?

The Government is providing additional funding to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools.

The money is provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport. It is allocated to primary school head teachers. It can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools.
What is the purpose of the grant?

Schools must spend the additional funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but they will have the freedom to choose how they do this.

Possible uses for the funding might be:

  • Hiring specialist PE teachers of qualified sports coaches to work with primary teachers when teaching PE.
  • Supporting and engaging the least active children through new or additional clubs.
  • Paying for professional development opportunities for teachers in PE an sport.
  • Providing cover to release primary teachers for professional development in PE and sport.
  • Running sport competitions and increasing pupils’ participation in school games.
  • Buying quality assured professional development modules or materials for PE and sport.
  • Providing places for pupils on after school sports clubs.
  • Pooling the additional funding with that of other local schools.

Our Vision

At the Raleigh Federation we aim to provide high quality physical education for all children, delivered by confident members of staff who are committed to engaging pupils and developing their skills. Furthermore, we want to provide all children with the opportunity to engage in competitive sporting activities, by entering a wide range of inter-school competitions. By delivering these opportunities for all our pupils we aim to have a positive impact on their physical literacy, all round health and confidence.
